This photo was taken for the roof of the Chicago Northwestern's main terminal interlocking plant at Canal and Lake Streets. Arriving, we see an express from Racine, Wisconsin being pulled by engine 2207

This passenger train is arriving at the still-under-construction Chicago and Northwestern Railroad station, located at West Madison and Canal Streets of Chicago.

More fast paced passenger action -- a seven car train pulled by CNW Pacific (4-6-2) near Edison Park.

CNW 1825 doesn't get praise and attention of the speedy passenger or "high iron" freight locomotives, but freight engines like this 2-8-0 were actually the backbone of freight operations.
