Electrical Building

U.S. Government Building

The Travel & Transportation Building was constructed
on suspended bridge. No pillars, columns, or arches for support, it
depended on cables to carry the load of its tremendous roof. The
exhibits inside feature the creaky wagons of a century ago to the modern
water, highway, railroad & air travel of today.

Antarctic explorer Admiral Byrd's famous ship,
"City of New York" was moored at the fair. On hand were
some of his crewmates to talk to the public about their
adventures. This is the vessel in which the exhibitioners braved
the icepacks and the Antarctic winter on their way to travel to the
South Pole.
