WHITEWATER REGISTER - a 1968 version of the Biblical story of Job will be presented by he Whitewater State University Summer Tent Theater players Wednesday, July 23 - July 26th with performances at 8:30.

Directed by Dr. Fannie Frazier Hicklin, Archibald MacLeish's "J.B." concerns Job's tribulations, and features a running commentary by Zeus (God) and Nickles (Satan) who have a wager on the outcome.

J/B/'s trials begin with the death of a son fighting in Vietnam and continue when two more children are killed in an auto accident.  A daughter is raped.  Finally, an atomic explosion wipes out all his holdings and causes his wife's death, while J.B. himself is severely burned.  Because he manages to retain his faith despite these tragedies, the ending is a happy one.
