Mind Warm-Ups.  Keyboarding/typing teachers have long used an independent practice to get students ready for a lesson.  I try to incorporate this in all my classes.  In a concept class, I use brain teasers and fun quizzes to get students "warmed-up" for the rest of the lesson.  Students really look forward to these.  Contact me if you want the answers or wish to swap puzzles.

Topic Organizer.  I am certified to teach note taking and am concerned that many students do not understand how to organize notes.  These handouts provide an outline for each lesson and allow students to visualize how concepts relate.

Supply and Demand.  This handout reviews one of the most basic principles of economics and business.

Kraft Foods.  Using Wisconsin's Badger Links, I created a newsletters to help students see how each topic in business class related to events happening around them.  Students actually read these and enjoy "case study" discussions.

Chicago Style Pizza.  Food is a great way to get student's attention and illustrate economics and business concepts.  Here is another one of my newsletters based on an article I found with Badger Links.

Ad Puffery.  I created this handout to illustrate how advertisements are written.  We had a lot of fun analyzing popular advertisements and creating our own ads.

GDP.  Business classes provide an excellent opportunity to review and apply basic math skills.

Hook and Peg Review.  Sometimes I think that the biggest mistake we make in schools is that we tend to teach memorization of facts and not critical thinking skills.  Nothing in a business class is totally new to students, because marketing and commerce is happening all around us.  My challenge is to get students to make connections between their lives and my curriculum.
